Team Outing 2026: A Day Off the Phones in the Hills
Kasauli, one bus, zero laptops, and a genuinely difficult tug-of-war

The rule for the day was simple and enforced at the bus door: no laptops. The overnight team covered the desk, everybody else got on the bus at 6am, and for one day the people who book other people's travel got to do some of their own. The bus was the best part Three hours to Kasauli, a playlist voted on by committee, and the discovery that our quietest consultant knows every single old Punjabi song ever recorded.
Breakfast, a walk, and the tug-of-war incident Breakfast stop at the usual dhaba on the highway. Twenty-two people, one very patient cook. A morning walk that was advertised as "easy" and was not. The tug-of-war: reservations versus accounts. Accounts won. Reservations maintain the rope slipped. There is no video, which is convenient for exactly one of those teams. A day like this is the reason a Toronto call at midnight gets handed to the right person in the morning without anybody having to explain who is who. Back at 9pm, back on the desk at 9am The bus got in late and everybody was on time the next morning. Photos are on the office wall, printed, next to the traveller thank-you notes. That corridor is getting crowded in a good way.
